Get to know Julia
Julia Firestone (she/her) is an ICF-certified transformational leadership coach and consultant with a focus on providing leadership development to new and emerging changemakers and growing social impact effectiveness in purpose-driven organizations. She is the founder of The League of Impact Leaders, a membership-based leadership development program, and the Purpose Career Lab, a social impact job seeker accelerator program.
Previously, Julia led Innovation Capacity Building at Pearson where she trained more than 400 colleagues around the world to use innovation methodologies like Design Thinking and Rapid Prototyping to serve learners, educators, and families more effectively. She also co-created and led Pearson’s Tiger Team program delivering rapid innovation sprints to build and test new products, services, and organizational changes. Before that, Julia managed Social Impact Partnerships for Pearson's Project Literacy campaign, building a community of more than 100 cross-sector organizations to combat illiteracy as part of a larger movement, serving as a grants manager to nonprofits around the world, leading a community of practice, shaping global campaigns, and representing the initiative on stages at conferences like Gates Grand Challenges and SXSW Edu. She also proudly served as a DEI Advocate throughout her time at Pearson, influencing DEI efforts in brand, digital marketing, and social impact. Prior to Pearson, Julia worked in EdTech and nonprofits, focusing on global education and literacy, teacher leadership, user-centered research, educational pedagogy, and community-led impact around the world.
Julia earned her MA from Columbia University, her BA from Hampshire College, and her coaching certification from Leadership That Works Los Angeles (led by the team who now run Coaching for Healing, Justice, and Liberation).
Julia is happiest when her work combines social impact, innovation, and culture change; when making magical connections between sparkly people who will help each other thrive; and when totally offline hiking around the world!
